Making hearing aid batteries last

Hearing aid batteries last days, not months. A few habits help you get the most out of each one.

1. Wait a minute after the tab

Peeling the tab lets air in, which wakes the battery up. Wait about a minute before closing the door so it reaches full power.

2. Smaller sizes run out sooner

A size 10 battery usually lasts a few days. A size 675 can last well over a week. Streaming and long days wear them down faster.

3. Open the door at night

Opening the battery door when you take your hearing aids out switches them off and lets moisture escape.

4. Store spares at room temperature

Keep them in their pack with the tabs on. The fridge doesn’t help, and damp can shorten their life.
